NASA's Heliophysics Mission Design School - Pilot

First Session:
        June 22 - September 4, 2020

JPL Onsite Culminating Week:
        August 31 - September 4, 2020
Notification of Selection:
        By May 18, 2020

Second Session:
        September 7 - November 13, 2020

JPL Onsite Culminating Week:
        November 9 - 13, 2020

  • Before applying, carefully review the Program Information for eligibility requirements and course description. Ineligible applications will NOT be considered.
  • In addition to this application, your advisor is required to provide a letter of recommendation. YOU are responsible for making sure all aspects of the application are correct and provided by the due date, including the letter of recommendation.
  • Fill out this application in its entirety prior to the Application Deadline. Late or incomplete applications are NOT accepted. There are NO exceptions.

LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

A signed letter of recommendation on letterhead, from your CURRENT graduate advisor, Postdoc supervisor, university department head, branch chief, or similar individual, is REQUIRED.

The advisor's letter must, at a minimum, address:

  1. The applicant's likelihood of a future career and leadership doing NASA work in heliophysics or mission engineering fields of interest to NASA.
  2. How HMDS will benefit the applicant.
  3. What characteristics the applicant possesses that make them suitable to HMDS
Note: Letters of recommendation for applicants to the Heliophysics Mission Design School must include a statement from its author that the HMDS applicant will be supported to commit to fully attend and participate in the entire length of the session.

Letter should be addressed to "HMDS Selection Committee".
